Introduction of Bacterial Resequencing

Bacterial genome re-sequencing refers to a sequencing method for performing bacterial genome sequencing on a bacterial individual whose genome sequence is known, and comparing the known reference genome to obtain the bacterial individual or population difference. Bacterial genome resequencing can discover unknown genetic variation information. With next-generation sequencing, bacterial genome resequencing can obtain higher data throughput, faster speed, and lower cost.

By comparing with known reference genomes using bioinformatics, we can obtain the different sequences of the individual or group of bacteria. These differences mainly include SNP, InDel and SV. At the same time, further studies on species evolution, population characteristics, and selection pressure can be conducted. At present, bacterial genome resequencing is widely used in the detection and identification of pathogenic microorganisms, the evolution and origin of pathogens, the population structure of pathogenic bacteria and the evolution of population structure.
