Introduction of Untargeted Metabolomics Analysis

Metabolomics is a novel discipline after genomics and proteomics. Its main goal is to quantitatively study the multivariate dynamic responses of living organisms to external stimuli, physiological and pathological changes and gene mutations. The objects of study are small molecular substances with a relative molecular weight of less than 1000 DA, such as lipids, ketones, organic acids and so on.

Untargeted metabolomics refers to the use of LC-MS, GC-MS, NMR technology to unbiasedly detect all small molecule metabolites before and after being stimulated or disturbed in cells, tissues, organs or organisms (mainly endogenous small molecular compounds with a relative molecular weight of less than 1000 Da), screen differential metabolites by bioinformatic analysis, analyze pathways of differential metabolites, and reveal the physiological mechanism of their changes.
